Belleza® Gaura

Belleza® Gaura is the compact version of a plant that was already doing nearly everything right — pink-striped stars on red-flushed stems, blooming from spring through fall without much complaint.

Where the species can sprawl to five feet and lose its composure by midsummer, Belleza® stays tidier, topping out around three feet with a reddish cast that runs through the entire plant: new growth flushed red, green leaves with red midribs, stems in deep burgundy. The light pink flowers with dark pink striping open in small clusters above all that dark foliage, and the contrast is genuinely pretty.

Give it full sun and average, well-drained soil — drainage matters more here than anywhere, especially through wet winters where standing moisture will rot the taproot. That same taproot makes Belleza® drought tolerant once established, but also means it resists transplanting, so site it carefully from the start. Bees and butterflies find it reliable, and its repeat-blooming habit means something is always happening from April through October.
