Ketchup & Mustard™ Floribunda Rose
Rosa Ketchup & Mustard® 'WEKzazette'
An All-America Rose Selection floribunda with a two-tone flair: deep red petals backed by a vivid yellow reverse and a mild apple tea fragrance, blooming in clusters from spring through fall.
The name is bold and the flowers deliver on the promise: deep red on the face, vivid yellow on the reverse, giving each cupped to high-centered bloom a bicolor drama that reads from across the garden. Christian Bédard bred Ketchup & Mustard for Weeks Wholesale Rose Grower and released it in 2012, and the All-America Rose Selection followed. The double flowers measure 3 to 4 inches across, carry a mild apple tea fragrance, and arrive in clusters on an upright bushy shrub 4 to 5 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide. Repeat blooming continues in flushes through fall.
Glossy green foliage provides a clean backdrop for the high-contrast flowers. Plant at soil level in amended, well-drained garden soil with full sun, apply balanced fertilizer in late winter and again in early summer, and prune in late winter to early spring to remove old and damaged canes. Aphids, caterpillars, and sawfly can cause occasional trouble, and black spot, powdery mildew, and rust are worth monitoring in humid summers. Beyond the border, it performs well in cutting gardens and containers alike.
