Magic Carousel
Rosa Magic Carrousel 'MOORcar'
An All-American Rose Selection winner bred by Ralph Moore in 1972, Magic Carousel is a miniature rose with creamy white petals edged in red-pink, fully double with up to 40 petals per bloom.
Ralph Moore bred Magic Carousel in 1972 by crossing Little Darling with Westmont, and the result earned the All-American Rose Award of Excellence, a recognition that reflects both the quality of the bloom and the reliability of the plant. The flowers are fully double, 1 to 2 inches wide, with 26 to 40 petals opening in white to cream with a distinct red-pink edge that gives each bloom a hand-painted quality. It reblooms consistently in flushes throughout the season and is semi-evergreen in warmer climates.
At 1 to 2 feet tall and wide, Magic Carousel is genuinely miniature and fits into situations where larger roses simply cannot go: container plantings, walkway edging, the front rank of a border. Zones 5 through 10 cover most of the country. Plant it in full sun with amended, well-drained soil, and prune lightly in late winter. Disease resistance is good overall, though powdery mildew, rust, and black spot are worth watching for in seasons with high humidity or poor airflow.
