Rosa White Licorice™ 'Wekdidusinra'

Named for the lemony-licorice perfume that drifts from its clusters of double white flowers, this compact floribunda fills the border from summer through fall on just 2 to 4 feet of tidy growth.

Christian Bedard bred White Licorice in the US, and Weeks Wholesale Rose Grower introduced it in 2011 with a name chosen to flag the scent before you even see the plant. The fragrance is striking: a clean lemony base with an unmistakable anise undertone that becomes more pronounced on still, warm evenings. Flowers are fully double, averaging four inches across, and they appear in clusters throughout the season. The glossy foliage resists disease well and holds up in summer heat.

This floribunda stays compact at 2 to 4 feet, which makes it genuinely useful in mixed borders and containers alike. It can also be pruned to a small standard tree form for patio use. Deadhead consistently and provide at least six hours of direct sun to keep the flushes coming. Morning sun is especially helpful because it dries dew off the leaves quickly, reducing conditions that favor fungal issues. Plant in fertile, moist, well-drained soil and mulch to suppress weeds through the growing season.
